2005 ORANGE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL PARADE - SATURDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2005

Having been presented with the KEY TO THE SHIRE by the Mayor at the Special 125th Anniversary Assembly, it was important that the school parade the key through the centre of Castle Hill.  The Orange Blossom Festival Parade was the means by which this could be done.  And so on Saturday evening about 200 members of the School Community gathered together and participated in the Parade.

For 125 years Castle Hill families have been sending their children to Castle Hill Public School.  The first group in the Castle Hill Public School Family Parade was the Historic Group representing the original students and teacher of the school.  On Monday 12th July 1880, Principal John Ussher walked with 64 students from the Old St Paul’s Church along Old Northern Road to what was in 1880, the new Castle Hill Public School, now the Old Schoolhouse.

The second Castle Hill Public School group in the Parade, the Flag Party, were carrying the Key to the Shire and the Flags of Australia, NSW and Baulkham Hills Shire, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Flags, The School House Flags and the Flag of Monaco where Castle Hill Public School and “Collège Charles Trois” have established strong ties.

Following the Flag Party in their green t-shirts was the School’s J-Rock Group, who recently participated most successfully in the Junior Rock Eisteddfod winning ten awards.  These girls and boys presented the finale of their performance when the parade reached the intersection of Old Northern Road and Castle Street.

The fourth group in Castle Hill Public School’s Family contingent is the sport group representing the excellence of the school’s sporting programs.  So far this year the school has produced state champions in cross country and swimming.

The final and largest group represented the 780 students, their teachers and parents.
