HOMEWORK

For effective learning students need to undertake individual work at home in addition to their classwork.  This is to consolidate work given at School, to cultivate habits of self-directed learning and home study, and to stimulate recreational interests that will lead to effective use of leisure.  It is the policy of the School that some prescribed homework will be set for students.  This may include the learning of spelling, tables, and oral reading.  It is anticipated that the total for the week will be as follows:

Year 1 - one hour per week.

Year 2 - one and a half hours per week.

Years 3 and 4 - two hours per week.

Year 5 - two and a half hours per week.

Year 6 - three to four hours per week.

Homework is set according to the need of individual students. Positive interest shown by parents is a great motivator for students and enables parents to be aware of their children's abilities.  Parents are asked to indicate that they have seen the homework by signing their children's work.
