YEAR 1 VISITS THE CASTLE HILL LIBRARY

1S RECOUNTS 1S have been busy this term learning about Living and non-living things. We have had a wonderful time in Science groups, where we made animal habitats.

Last week 1S made habitat boxes. In my group I made an echidna habitat. First my group decorated the box. Next we decorated the outside of the box. After that we cut the echidna. Then we cut the tree in the box. Finally we were finished. My favourite part was the habitat box. By Maddy	Last week 1S made habitat boxes. 1S’s groups were wombats, koalas, echidnas and platypus. My group was the Koalas. First we got our blue piece of paper. Next we glued a piece of real paperbark on to the blue paper. After that we got paper leaves and glued them on the trees. Then we stuck the trees in the habitat box. Finally we made the two koalas and stuck them into the box and put them hanging in the trees. I loved it! By Josh	Last week 1S made habitat boxes. In my group I made a platypus habitat. First we got the things we needed. Next we painted them. After that we made the outsides and the platypus. Then we did the fringing. In our science groups we made habitat boxes. In my group I made a wombat habitat. First we got into our groups and decided what we were going to do with our boxes. After that we got to fringe the paper. Then we put trees in our habitat boxes. Finally we were finished. I liked it. Actually it was fantastic! By Livvy

FEATHERDALE WILDLIFE PARK EXCURSION
On Tuesday 26^th May 2009, Year One went to Featherdale Wildlife Park. We were travelling there by bus. When we arrived we had our fruit break and morning tea. First we explored the park. Then we saw the birds. Later we saw the eagles, penguins and a goanna. Soon after we went to the Reptile House. There we saw some spiders, venomous snakes and some perenties. We then had to go to the Learning Burrow. Next we saw a Tasmanian devil and a wombat. Afterwards we went to the Nocturnal House. Then we hopped on the bus ready to go back to school. ABORIGINAL PERFORMANCE
On Tuesday, 19^th May, 2009 Aboriginals came to our school. Their names were Balasam, Tara, Lily and Majita . After a while Tara told Kindergarten children to stand up and some people went onto the stage. Soon after Tara asked Year One children to stand and some people danced on stage. They showed us two flags-the Torres Strait Island and the Aboriginal flag. I had fun! Nicholas 1P
