ELLA WANTS TO BE A TRAPEZE ARTIST

Ella, the grey dainty elephant, wanted to be a trapeze artist in a circus.  Everyday Ella practised balancing. She swung with the cheeky monkeys and balanced with the spotty cheetahs. Then she thought, “I want more.”

One day she found a poster. “ Yes, I can be in a circus,” she shouted aloud.  Her little brother suddenly stomped behind her and said, “Hey, you can’t be a trapeze artist. You’re too clumsy and you’re terrible at swinging.”

“Well,” Ella began, “my passion is to be a trapeze artist so I’m going to practise 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.”

Some nights later she crept quietly out into the darkness and peered through the circus flap. “Wow!” she whispered, “That’s amazing.”  Just at that moment the trapeze artist fell and sprained his wrist. “Oh! Oh!” he cried in pain. The ringmaster was shocked and terrified.

“Help!” the ringmaster cried, “ I need a flexible person to take his place.”

Within a second, Ella jumped into the ring. She swung from the ropes, somersaulted from the high trapeze and glided through the air. The ringmaster yelled, “An elephant! Wow! That’s amazing. OK, that’s done, you’re in.”

Soon the great day arrived and Ella waited nervously behind the curtain. Again her little brother called out, “Get back into the bush where you belong.” But Ella had her mind made up and was determined. She jumped out in front of all the spotlights and flipped through the air as she swung across the big top.

At first the audience laughed and then there was silence. Finally they cheered and shouted for more. Later her little brother came and said, “That was really good.”

THE THREE WISHES

by Aneesha 3W

A long, long time ago there lived a girl, beautiful as a rose.  She was smart and kind.  Her name was Alena.  She lived in the deep, lonely forest.  Her mother and father were very poor so they had to send poor Alena to the village every day to buy enough food for just one day.

One day she met a very tired black cat.  Now Alena was very kind and straight away went and bought the cat a very juice piece of meat.  After a while the cat began to recover.  Now this happened to be a magic cat.  It said, "Alena you have saved my life.  I will now grant you three wishes."  At that the black cat scampered off into the woods.  alena ran all the way home to tell her parents about the wonderful news.  They used their wishes wisely.  They wished for a golden carriage, a wonderful manor and some beautiful clothes.  After that they were the happiest people in the village.
